Our Edge
P-Life Price Advantage

While the performance of P-Life Degradable Plastic’s programmable degradation technology and its breadth of applications offer significantly competitive advantages over other degradable technology currently available in the market, it is the cost advantage promised by the P-Life Degradable Plastic Technology that really separate P-Life for the rest the competition.

While a wide range of applications of P-Life technology have already been examined and proven in actual applications, our research team is always continuously looking at all potential new methods of expanding and widening P-Life applications.

P-Life Technology Edge

P-Life is a patented additive technology that makes polyolefin polymers, considered as non-biodegradable polymers, into Abiotic-Biodegradable polymers. According to a study undertaken by the University of Buffalo, USA to “assess the effects of the prodegradant range on the biodegradation of films made from polyethylene.”, it was found that:“The use of degradation enhancing additives results in a more rapid degradation of the polymer and is responsible for a 13.6 fold increase in the rate of biodegradation.”

However, despite the successful use of our patented chemical additives, there still remains an inherent price premium, which will impede any possibility of mass-market usage.

As such, work was carried out in order to try to develop a process, in which the proprietary chemistry is introduced directly after the polymer passes through the reactor. This removes the cost burden of having to add an additive material at the later converter stage, which would involve another process stage in the manufacturing process.

This new process was patented in March 2000 in both the United States and the Patent Cooperation Treaty (“PCT”) Zone. In September 2001, we chose various countries and regions within the PCT Zone according to their likely future demand for the P-Life technology. These include Canada, Australia, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, South Africa, South Korea and Europe.

In November 2002, we had been awarded US patent No.6482872 (“Process for Manufacturing a Biodegradable Polymeric Composition”)

In May 2003, we had been awarded Australian patent No.760643 (“Process for Manufacturing a Biodegradable Polymeric Composition”)
